Real Madrid Wonderkid Confirms Commitment to Morocco
Real Madrid’s talented young man Achraf Hakimi is back in Morocco for a 2018 World Cup qualifier against Mali at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Saturday (9/2/2017).
This is not Hakimi’s first time to strengthen the national team. Earlier, the 18-year-old made his debut in a friendly against Canada on December 10, 2016. Improved quality of the game with Real Madrid is believed to be the reason Morocco’s head coach, Herve Renard, put the player’s name into the squad.
La Liga 2017/2018 is a great opportunity for Hakimi. Zinedine Zidane entrust Hakimi as Dani Carvajal’s coating for Real Madrid’s right-wing sector.
This decision is well founded. Last season, Hakimi scored 28 appearances and scored one goal and eight assists for Castilla at Segunda B.
Previously, Hakimi was rumored to be loaned to Alaves. However, Danilo’s departure to Manchester City and the brilliant performance of Hakimi during a preseason tour in the United States managed to convince Real Madrid’s management and staff of coaches to keep them in the first team.
Hakimi’s entry into the team is expected to have a positive impact on the right sector of Atlas Lions defense. In the first two matches, Morocco only earned two points. Morocco were held 0-0 Côte d’Ivoire and Gabon in World Cup Group C group Africa qualifiers.
Currently Morocco are second in Group C with two points, losing two points from Ivory Coast with one win and one draw.
